Collaborative Drawing Project
Art on Sedgwick
Old Town, Chicago
2024
Students from the Summer Art & Impact Program at Art on Sedgwick created a large-scale collaborative drawing of the whitewashed Strangers Home Missionary Baptist Church, previously the site of William Walker's All of Mankind mural. This approach focused on collaboration, embracing imperfections, and reflecting on the loss of the original mural located at 617 W. Evergreen Ave, Chicago.
Visual artists Kiki McGrath, Pierce Cruz, and Jacob Boglio from the Summer Art & Impact Program led a drawing workshop at Art on Sedgwick Studio. The workshop involved 21 teen participants: Juan, Lee, Kamaya, Tenzin, Nick, Chastity, Lili, Deni, Sophia G., Trevon, Audrina, Yvette, Darrien, Dari, Belen, Denise, Danna, Bernie, Suheily, Sophia S., Messiah, and Krisha.
